Couples Counselling

A safe space for both of you to be heard

A third person in the room, in a therapeutic way

Couples counselling brings a third person into the relationship in a way that is therapeutic, constructive and entirely impartial. Paul does not take sides. His role is to create a safe space where both partners feel heard and respected, and to facilitate the kind of honest communication that can be difficult to achieve on your own.

Through gentle prompts and careful listening, Paul helps you and your partner understand each other more deeply. Sometimes the most powerful thing is simply being able to say what you have been holding back, and to hear what your partner has been carrying too.

Sessions are not about blame or finding fault. They are about building understanding, strengthening your connection, and finding a way forward together, whether that means repairing what has been damaged or making thoughtful decisions about the future of your relationship.

What couples counselling can help with

Communication breakdown

When conversations turn into arguments, or when you have stopped talking altogether. Counselling can help you find a way to communicate that actually works.

Trust issues

Whether trust has been broken by infidelity or has eroded over time, rebuilding it takes patience and the right support. A safe space to begin that process can make all the difference.

Conflict

Recurring disagreements that never seem to resolve. Counselling can help you understand the patterns beneath the surface and find healthier ways to navigate differences.

Intimacy

Emotional or physical distance that has grown between you. Counselling can help you reconnect and rebuild closeness in a way that feels natural and safe for both of you.

Life changes

Major transitions such as having a child, moving, retirement, or loss can put enormous strain on a relationship. Working through these together with support can strengthen your partnership.

Pre-relationship concerns

Before making a major commitment, some couples choose to explore their relationship dynamics in counselling. This can help you understand each other on a deeper level before moving forward.

How sessions work

Each couples counselling session lasts 50 minutes. Both partners are present for the full session. Paul creates a balanced environment where each of you has equal space to speak and to listen. Sessions are available in Bath and Bristol.
